Festival Restroom Planning: Behind the Scenes at Georgia RenFest

The Shire of Nottingham opens for Fall Fling on Saturday, October 31. Here is where the privies are, why the festival pairs restroom trailers with portable units, and what keeping a village this size comfortable has taught us about festival planning.

A village this size needs more than one privy stop

The Georgia Renaissance Festival's Fall Fling opens October 31, 2026, in Fairburn, and for the first time the entire grounds are open for a fall season. That means the joust field, the stages, three food courts, the pubs, and more than 160 artisan shops all running at once, with guests wandering from Olde Towne to the Royal Highlands and back over an eight-hour day.

Somewhere in that walk, everyone needs a privy. Superior Location Solutions supplies the restroom trailers at the festival's main stops, including 10-stall and 4-stall units, along with the porta potties and handwashing stations that fill in the rest of the grounds. The point of the mix is simple: a family coming through the Front Gate, a crowd spilling out of the joust, and the lunch rush at Camelot Food Court should not all be walking to the same restroom.

If you are planning festival restroom rentals in Georgia, RenFest is a good model. Capacity and placement get planned together, and the service schedule is built around how the village actually runs.

Privies, Express Privies, and why the festival uses both

Nobody at RenFest says restroom. They say privy. The main privies are our restroom trailers: flushing toilets, running water at the sinks, lighting, and heat or air conditioning depending on the weekend. Some of them sit inside timber privy pavilions the festival built around them, so from the lane a modern trailer reads as just another village building.

A main privy stop, ready for the weekend: restroom trailers, handwashing stations, and an accessible unit in one area.

The Express Privies are the festival's own name for banks of portable toilets placed where the crowd bunches up. When organizers introduced them this spring, the reasoning was practical: portable units put more capacity into a busy lane that could never take a trailer, and they keep the trailers at the main stops moving. We supply both, and both get serviced on the same schedule.

Where to find them on the Fall Fling map

On the illustrated map, the trailer stops carry the restroom symbol and the Express Privies carry the Express Restrooms symbol. Here is the same list the festival's guest services page uses, with the landmarks you will actually see:

  • Front Gate Courtyard: Restroom trailers just outside the gate. First stop on the way in, last stop on the way out.
  • Camelot Food Court: Restroom trailers a few steps from the Drunk Monk Pub and the Amazing Maze.
  • Royal Highlands: Restroom trailers beside the Game of Throws knife, star, and axe range, near the Peacock Tea Room.
  • Queen's Garden: Restroom trailers near Chateau Hibbele Kitchens, convenient to Robin Hood Archery and the Garden Cottage Stage.
  • Olde Towne: Express Privies by Middleton Stage and the Olde Towne Food Court.
  • The Midlands: Express Privies beside First Aid, near Sir Munch-A-Lot and the Halfwit Harbor Stage.

Every privy area has a baby-changing station. Water refill stations are separate, at the Front Gate, Market Square, and King's Food Court. Follow the posted signs onsite; the map shows where each area is, not how many stalls are at each one.

What a multi-weekend village teaches you about festival restrooms

Plan for the surge, not the ticket count. Total attendance tells you very little. What matters is how many people are on the grounds at once and when they move together. At RenFest that is the gate rush after opening, lunch at the food courts, and the moment the joust lets out and a few thousand people walk off the tournament field at the same time. Add staff, vendors, performers, and setup crews, and keep any facilities reserved for them out of the public count. Then compare 10-stall trailers, 4-stall trailers, and portable toilets against that picture.

Place for guests and for the pump truck. A good privy stop is easy to find, has room for a line that stays out of the lane, and can still be reached by a service vehicle after every booth, fence, and food trailer is in place. Mark stages, food courts, entrances, vendor rows, and fencing on one site map before you pick restroom locations. Review accessible options at the same time, including the approach and the ground surface, not just the unit.

Light the walk, not just the door. Fall Fling runs until 9 p.m., and by late November it is dark before 6. The route to the privy, the signs, and the steps need light as much as the trailer does. Walk it after dark once.

Treat every Saturday like opening day. Between operating days the trailers get pumped, cleaned, restocked, and refilled, the portable units get serviced, and the handwash stations get soap and water. That only works if the service route stays open and someone onsite knows when the trucks arrive. For a run that reaches into December, we also talk through cold snaps, wet ground, and exposed water lines ahead of time. Our multi-day logistics guide and cold-weather planning guide go deeper on both.

Start your quote with the map and the schedule

Send us your location, dates, hours, estimated peak crowd, crew and vendor counts, any existing restrooms, and a marked site plan. Add what you know about power, water, delivery restrictions, accessibility, and when service trucks can get in.

Whether it is a one-day community festival or a recurring event across Metro Atlanta, Georgia, and the Southeast, the goal is the same one RenFest has: guests find a clean privy without leaving the part of the village they came for, and the crew has a plan they can keep running every weekend.

Festival restroom questions

What are Express Privies at Georgia RenFest?

Privy is the festival's word for a restroom. The main privies are restroom trailers. Express Privies are banks of portable toilets the festival added so guests have a quick stop in the busiest lanes, near Middleton Stage and First Aid. On the illustrated map they appear as Express Restrooms. Baby-changing stations are available in every privy area.

Should a festival rent restroom trailers or porta potties?

Most festivals do best with both. Trailers give guests flushing toilets, sinks, lighting, and climate control at the main stops. Portable toilets add capacity in tight spots where a trailer will not fit, and handwashing stations round out the plan. The right mix depends on peak crowd, hours, site access, accessibility, utilities, and the service schedule.

What should I send SLS for a festival restroom quote?

Send your site map, dates and hours, expected peak attendance, vendor and crew counts, any existing restrooms, and what you know about power, water, accessibility, and service access. Include setup days and every operating weekend so the quote covers the whole run.
